Chapter 1307: Too Heavy A Burden.

“What’s the matter?” Ian waved his hand in front of Gu Mengmeng’s face. “Are you going to give it to me?”

Gu Mengmeng lifted her eyes and stared at Ian for a long while before getting up and taking out the other fan from the house. She handed it over to Ian. “Here, take this to go cajole Mandy. I don’t need you to hunt Melottis for me anymore either. This fan… I don’t like it anymore.”

It wasn’t that she didn’t like it, but that it had become too heavy a burden.

Birds that a man captured for you by moving the mountains and seas, with nary a word of complaint at all. It wouldn’t have mattered if she had remained in the dark, but now that she knew… just looking at the fan made her feel she owed a major debt to Gregory. It was a very unpleasant feeling.

Ian didn’t know what Gu Mengmeng was thinking about. He happily took the fan. “I am not going to take advantage of you. Treat this as a favor to me. Tell me next time if you have anything you want. I will definitely pay you back.”

Gu Mengmeng waved her hand. “Mandy is my friend and it’s no big deal for me to give her a present. Hurry back now. You have been away for so many days. She must be very worried about you.”

Ian nodded and launched into the air without another word. He circled the skies a couple of times and gave a warble before flying off.

Over the next few days, Lea remained at home to accompany Gu Mengmeng while Elvis led the wolf pack hunting outside.

Being able to hunt together with the Wolf King made the wolf pack exceptionally energized. As a result, the amount of game brought back by the wolf pack was the most abundant in Sauder, raising their esteem within the territory.

The snow foxes sought out Lea twice, hoping that his Ninth Highness would lead their tribe in a hunt to compete against the wolf pack. However, Lea rejected them. The reason was simple. Elvis was more powerful than him and would achieve better hunting results than him. Hence, it was more beneficial for their family if Elvis went hunting. He would not sacrifice Gu Mengmeng’s winter food store just for the pride of the snow foxes.

The snow foxes had their request thrown back in their faces. Nevertheless, they had no choice but to accept Lea’s decision.

Hence, the glory attained by the 16 tribes during the bonfire party gradually faded, while the wolf tribe’s hunting prowess brought up their status in Sauder.

When Elvis was not at home, Gu Mengmeng spent most of the time at Sandy’s, whiling away the hours chatting with her and playing with her two daughter-in-laws and Sandy’s three leopard cubs.

These children were growing up so fast. Those toothless little chaps were now as big as those adult leopards one saw in the zoo. However, they were already more than a year old, and still did not show any signs of evolving.

Gu Mengmeng had asked about this before. Sandy explained that Hede and his brothers were exceptional cases. In general, beasts only started evolving at the about age of three. Hence, it was still early days for Joseph and his brothers.

Gu Mengmeng petted Daji in her arms as she asked Sandy, “I sent Bode to Zacharias and he has yet to return. I don’t know if he is able to return this winter season to accompany you… you… will you blame me for being a busybody?”

Sandy shook her head and smiled. “Bode won’t be able to keep his place in the family if he doesn’t enhance his powers soon. I can’t thank you enough for offering him a way out. Why would I be blaming you?”

Gu Mengmeng heaved a sigh of relief as her heart felt much lighter now. She asked again, “Since Bode won’t be home this winter, you can conceive a brood of little bears with Collin.”

Sandy paused for two seconds before shaking her head. “It is very difficult for half-beast females to get pregnant. While I am still fertile… I want to bear a brood of little wolves first. It doesn’t matter which partner is the father, but I must first bear a brood of little wolves first.”
