18 No Time To Say No Time

Another is lack of time to pray and spread the word as your schedule is jam-packed. Well, there is never anytime for anything until you create the s.p.a.ce and time for it. Ever heard of no time to look at time or even no time to say no time? While it would be lovely to explain more on this time issue, there's no time to even repeat or talk on time … kai! Okay, not to waste your time, here's a poem:

NO TIME

I knelt to pray, but not for long

I had too much to do.

I had to hurry and get to work,

For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,

And jumped off my feet.

My Christian duty was now due,

My soul could rest at ease.

No time,

To spread a word of cheer,

No time,

To speak of Christ to friends,

They'd laugh at me I feared.

No time,

That was my constant cry.

Alas! The time to die had come.

I went before the Lord

And stood with a downcast eye.

In His hand He held the 'Book of Life'

"Your name I cannot find,

Once I was going to write it down,

But never had the time"

Now you'll have the time to pa.s.s this on.

INBOX:

Hi Missy,

For some time now, I've been arguing with my friends about this day fas.h.i.+on. The reason isn't far-fetched though, we don't know what to think about the modern day fas.h.i.+on in line with G.o.d/ Christianity. What's fas.h.i.+on anyway? Also, what's your view about Deuteronomy 22:5?

Nate.

OUTBOX:

Nate,

The truth is, if I've gotta talk about fas.h.i.+on, hmmm, that would take more than a chapter, another book so to say. I'd try to get the basic facts pa.s.sed across. Fas.h.i.+on... hmmm... fas.h.i.+on is the prevailing style (as in dress, hair e. t. c.) during a particular time or place; simply put.

Deuteronomy 22:5 says "a woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man wear a man's cloak; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your G.o.d" (English Translated Version).

Definitely, this holds very true. It should be noted that the mode of dressing back in those days were garments and cloaks. From my lil research, I've seen no really big difference in the meanings of the two words in that they are all large pieces of clothing in the form of a gown worn to cover nakedness. However, for the sake of this explanation, I'd liken garments to guys and cloaks to ladies. Your obvious question is: is it right for ladies to wear pants (trousers) or not? My answer is yes! Here are my reasons why:

1.) From the very beginning, G.o.d didn't fas.h.i.+on pants for guys but garments, and cloaks for the ladies. With time, long after Jesus' era, pants came into existence first for guys then for the ladies. Yes, ladies should not wear guys outfit e.g. trousers, t-s.h.i.+rts... cut out to be for a male; so also guys should not wear ladies outfit e.g. trousers, earrings, tops... cut out to be for a female i.e. dressing 'tom-boyish' for ladies and 'girly' for guys, having negative intent is sinful. (culled from Sharon Daugherty's book, 'What guys see that girls don't...or do they?')

2.) Most times, the motive behind wearing pants is not necessarily to seduce the other s.e.x, it is worn for protection against various unforeseen mishaps e.g. ****, dangerous crawling insects or animals; it would be noticed that it would take more time and energy to penetrate through to a girl who's putting on trousers as compared to if she was in a gown or skirt as in the case of **** and even in the event of getting bit or stung by an animal or insect.

3.) Trousers are worn to guard against harsh weather conditions that suffice in the environment. Long skirts and gowns alone may not be able to properly combat the effect of cold in the body. What's more, trousers make one's activities more flexible like running, escaping from danger etc.

To me, sanity in dressing is all that matters, one doesn't have to wear super mini-skirts, tight skin trousers, sagging denim jeans to the heels to show cla.s.s. Dressing responsibly matters a lot; don't forget, the way you dress is the way you'd be addressed.

As T-4-G, you don't have to look shabby and ill-dressed; however, whatever you are putting on, be it gowns, trousers, tops, t-s.h.i.+rts, shorts, and however you are wearing them, ask yourself: how do I look? Am I looking modest? Am I looking pure? Am I looking holy? Am I pleasing before the Lord? Surely, you'd hear that tingling voice a.k.a Holy Spirit telling you whether you look good in the Lord's sight or not and telling you what to wear.
