Xia Ling glared at him. “Who has the final say here, you or me?!”

Ah Nuo was caught in a fix. This wasn’t about who had the final say, but rather, how she shouldn’t be putting herself at such risk! Young Master had made it clear to him that taking care of Madam was of utmost importance—she was to be prioritized even above Young Master’s matters. If Young Master woke up to find out that Madam had run into trouble, he wouldn’t even be able to pay for his sins with his life!

Old Master Li frowned. “Enough talking, let’s go!”

Ah Nuo did not care to listen to Old Master Li. He was Li Lei’s trusted subordinate, not Old Master’s. He looked toward Xia Ling hopefully, wondering if she would change her mind.

Xia Ling appeared gullible usually, but at a time like this, she wasn’t the least bit foolish. She continued glaring at him. “Are you not wheeling me? I can always stand and walk on my own!” She staggered to her feet and held onto the railings, but just a few steps in, she almost tripped and fell.

Ah Nuo’s heart skipped a beat watching the scene unfold and hurriedly went to help her. “Madam, Madam, please don’t make things difficult for me. I’ll wheel you, alright?” This 1.80-meter tall man was actually feeling helpless. Seeing how determined she was to do this, he figured that it was for the best that he followed them.

Only then did Xia Ling contentedly take her seat in the wheelchair, still gasping and sweating from her efforts.

Old Master Li took the lead. He was old, but he had enough experience from years of fighting to take him through. Without the Xia family members around, it was easy to find their way out of the hospital. They contacted the Li family’s chauffeur and were taken to the headquarters of the Wei Corporation.

It was an ordinary-looking building, and it even appeared a little run down.

It looked just like any other small-medium enterprises in the city. If Xia Ling had not come the previous time for Pei Ziheng’s illness, she really wouldn’t believe that this was the nest of the only “weirdo” in the world who could go against the Xia’s. The virus released from this building could cause destruction to the world.

Ah Nuo wheeled her in and Old Master Li took his place beside them.

The receptionist was polite. “Good afternoon, may I know who you’re looking for?”

“Wei Lingnan.” Xia Ling stated.

The receptionist flinched a little. Among the many people who stopped by, only a very small number had ever asked to meet their mysterious Big Boss specifically. She took a few more glances at Xia Ling and asked, “Do you have an appointment?”

Xia Ling was a little anxious. “No, just tell him Ye Xingling is here.”

The receptionist wasn’t one who followed entertainment news closely, but upon hearing her name, she recalled this familiar face—It’s Ye Xingling! The Super Diva at the apex of her career! Gosh, it’s the superstar in person! “M-Miss Ling, is it really you? I’m so honored to be talking to you!” The receptionist was almost awe-struck. “Could I have your autograph?”

Although she wasn’t a fan, many of her other friends were!

It was very glamorous to be able to have Ye Xingling personally sign her autograph!

Ye Xingling got even more anxious. On an ordinary day, she wouldn’t mind building her image and interacting with someone like this. But at a time when Li Lei was on the brink of death, how could she be in the mood for an autograph?!

“Please help me get Wei Lingnan as soon as possible!” She was barely able to suppress her annoyance.

But the receptionist seemed to be placed in an awkward situation. “If you don’t have an appointment, you can’t meet Chairman Wei, even if you’re a megastar.” She had long heard that her Big Boss was a terrifying person and that anyone who offended him ended up in a sorry state. Instead of offending him, she’d rather offend the superstar, as much as she hated to.

Xia Ling’s expression hardened. “You must be new here.”

“Huh?” The receptionist was a little stunned, how did she know that?

Xia Ling said coldly, “The last receptionist who stopped me from meeting Wei Lingnan has gone missing with no traces.”

The receptionist felt a chill down her spine. When she first entered the company, she had indeed heard that the receptionist before her had offended someone and was dealt with by Chairman Wei. It seemed like… this was the woman she had offended?! “P-please give me a moment, I will check it out for you.” She stammered.

Xia Ling had no choice but to wait for her to get permission. The receptionist wasn’t in a high enough position to speak directly to the Boss and hence, had to make a few calls before getting an answer. After the last call, she apologetically said to Xia Ling, “I’m sorry, Miss Ling. Chairman Wei is currently busy. He won’t meet anyone for now, even you.”

What exactly could Wei Lingnan be busy with at this time?!

Xia Ling’s heart sank. The last time she came, Wei Lingnan had at least taken some time off to speak to her. Even though he had not agreed immediately to treat Pei Ziheng of his illness, he hadn’t rejected her outrightly. But what was going on now? She glanced at the receptionist and understood that this lady did not have enough authority to do anything. Seeing that there was no point in pressing this lady further, she decided to call Wei Shaoyin instead. “I’m at your family’s headquarters. I want to meet your Uncle, do you have a way to get this done?”

Wei Shaoyin was shocked. “Are you insane?! You want to meet that maniac?!”

“It’s not as if he’d eat me up,” Xia Ling said in annoyance.

“He would!” Wei Shaoyin was getting worked up on her behalf. “Stay where you are, I’m coming over right now!”

Half an hour later, Wei Shaoyin appeared at the reception. His quality white s.h.i.+rt wasn’t even b.u.t.toned properly, and his hair smelt vaguely of shampoo. In fact, there was some foam in his hair, and he actually looked like he’d dashed out of the shower halfway. Xia Ling looked at him, confused—was there a need to be in such a hurry?

Wei Shaoyin yelled at her, “What are you doing here?! Don’t you know what a perverted maniac my uncle is? Even a hundred of you won’t be enough for him to have his fun!”

Xia Ling looked up at him while in her wheelchair. “I know all of this. But Li Lei still isn’t out of the woods yet, and your uncle might be the only person who can save him.”

Wei Shaoyin went quiet.

He’d been following the news lately and knew that Li Lei was in trouble. More importantly, he knew how much Li Lei meant to her.

Seeing how haggard she looked, he paced around in the lobby in frustration for a while before finally deciding. “Let’s go, I’ll take you to stand against him.” He knew how stubborn she was. She usually appeared gullible and easy to convince, but when it came to things that mattered to her, she wouldn’t back down. Wei Shaoyin and Ah Nuo had the same thought—instead of letting her go about it at her own risk, they’d rather help her out and keep her safe.

Xia Ling smiled. “Thank you, Ah Wei.”

Wei Shaoyin glared at her. “Don’t you thank me! I really think it’s a silly idea to bring you in to find him!”

Xia Ling smiled anyway. She was thankful for this friend who’d helped her time and again.

Wei Shaoyin shot a look of despise at her wheelchair. “My uncle hates noise. Your bodyguard and Old Master should just stay out, just in case it upsets him. I’ll wheel you in myself.”
