Akila felt the warmth of the magic around her body. This time she wasn't surprised. She knew what was to happen. She knew that today, would be the day of a sacrifice. As the light began to go back into the locket it created one last thing. A staff, glowing with magic. It was embedded with black gems and a large red gem on the top. Akila watched as it floated in front of her. She reached out and grabbed it. The light disappeared the instant it was in her hands. She balanced it in both hands and held it firmily with her left, "Well, that's new."
"Wait, you've done that before?" Charles asked his mouth open like a cod.
"Yeah, i have. The day that you, um, kissed me..." Akila said, blus.h.i.+ng.
"Oh. Well that explains that weird light i saw that day. But, why did it give you the staff?"
"It must've know that I lost my scythe. So it provided me a weapon."

Charles looked at Akila and smiled. She looked at him and nodded. Charles moved out of her way. Akila walked over to the door and readied her staff.
"Amosphoprio!' She yelled and the door in front of her exploded. She heard the screams of the guard as the explosion hit him. "Charles, we need to go, now!"
"My lord, they are trying to escape. Shall I sned my men to capture them?" The head guard said to the king.
"No, let them come to me. Bring me the serum. It's time the final battle began," Josiah said to him.
"But sire..."
"BRING ME THE SERUM!"
"Yes sire." The guard ran off into a hallway.
"I must be ready," Josiah stood up and grabbed his sword from the side of his throne. He looked around and grabbed a torch off of the wall, "I think I'll cause a little pain when I'm done with them..."
Charles ran behind Akila as they raced through the halls of the castle dungeon. Every guard that came past to try and stop them was blasted to smithereens. A few more minutes of running through a maze of halls, they found a set of stairs. As they ran up them, it seemed that they led to a room above ground.
The room was full of swords and armor. "Charles, put on a suit of armor and grab a sword. You might need it," Akila said throwing a sword at him.
Charles caught it and started to put on armor. He hd chosen a set sequestered in the corner, covered in dust. He liked the design of the metal. He slid on every piece and stood still as Akila tightened the straps of the sheath. Charles slid the sword in and stood ready to keep running. "You ready Charles?" Akila asked.
"Yeah, let's do this. I'm ready to get out of this h.e.l.l hole."
Akila pushed the door of the room open and ran out. Charles ran out behind her. Akila stopped by a doorway to the left. She took a peek inside and saw Josiah his back towards her."Josiah," she mouthed to Charles. He nodded and slowed his speed. They crept along the wall to avoid being caught. They had gotten to the next roo when Akila took a breath. She moved her hand forward to signal to keep going. The sped up their pace and walked into another hallway. Akila looked forward and saw the doors of the castle. She looked behind her and saw Charles smiling. She turned back around and started for the door, her feet pounding just as they did during her first escape. She threw herself against the door and pushed it open. She saw the woods that she had first used her scythe. "Charles! We made it! let's go!" Akila exclaimed with excitement in her voice. She was waiting for a reply or for Charles to run past her, but there was nothing. "Charles?" she said turning around, "CHARLES!" Charles was missing. Hundreds of thoughts ran through her head. Did Josiah catch him? Did a guard manage to kill him and drag the body away? Akila ran back the way she came and stopped in front of the doors to Josiah's throne room. She gasped.
Inside, Josiah held Charles, a sword to his throat. Surrounding them was a ring of fire. She looked on as Charles struggled to escape. Josiah seemeed to be getting no effect from the heat around him. Akila could see his veins puffing out from under his skin. She could tell that he had taken the serum that was made using her blood. He now had the same magic that Akila possesed.
"h.e.l.lo Akila. Nice of you to join us. It seems here that Charles wanted a bit of revenge..." Josaih said moving the sword closer to Charles throat.
"Let him go! Now..." Akila yelled readying her staff. Akila could see Charles eyes turning cloudy. It was happening again. "Josiah, you may really want to let go of him."
"I'm not going to do that. What's the worst that could happen anyway, your little staff giving me a cut," He said mockingly. He turned his head, "OH s.h.i.+T!"
