Mingyue stared into the darkness and said, "What's wrong?" She looked at her husband and saw a smile on his face. He was staring at her. Suddenly, her face turned red with shyness as she felt Yang Yun's gaze at her. "What is it?"
Yang Yun placed a finger on his lips. "Look carefully."
Mingyue tore her gaze away from Yang Yun and looked a look around her surrounding. After a few seconds, she saw a faint glow not far away from them. Then, there were more and more. Their surrounding was brightened up with thousands of small lights. Mingyue gaped as she watched the glow of the fireflies. It was breathtaking.
"Isn't it beautiful?"
Mingyue nodded absentmindedly. She watched the fireflies a few seconds longer and turned to Yang Yun. "It's beautiful."
Yang Yun watched Mingyue's smiling face under the glow. "I found this place while patrolling around the area. I thought about taking you here on the last day of the spring hunt." He guided her towards an empty s.p.a.ce and sat down.
The couple stayed quietly as they enjoyed the scenery before them. After a while, Yang Yun pulled Mingyue closer to let her head rest against his body and planted a kiss on her head. "Do you like it?" Yang Yun broke the silence. His voice sounded deep and magnetic as he tried to lower his tone.
Mingyue nodded again.
"Then, how do you plan to reward me?"
Mingyue pulled away and stared into Yang Yun's eyes innocently. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped. Slowly, she looked away from Yang Yun and moved her body sideways. Her eyes went wide and sparkled with excitement.
"What's wrong?" Yang Yun raised a brow. "Mingyue?" He called as he watched Mingyue stood up and walked ahead. Yang Yun followed her and saw her crouched down on the ground. "Mingyue, what's wrong?"
Mingyue seemed like she was not listening.
Yang Yun followed Mingyue's line of sight and saw her hand stretched to touch a small plant on the gra.s.s. First, she studied the leaf, and then the tiny bulb on top. It looked like the flower was going to bloom in a few days.
"This," Mingyue finally spoke. Her voice trembled slightly. "The Night Mist Flower. I saw this plant in one of grandfather's journal before."
"Is this the plant you're looking for to cure Her Highness?" Yang Yun asked.
Mingyue shook her head. "No. We need Shadow Gra.s.s to cure Her Highness. But I never thought that I'd see a Night Mist flower in this lifetime. I heard that the plant does not grow in Da Cheng much. I wonder how will the flower looked like when it blooms?"
Yang Yun stood at her side as he heard Mingyue continuously spoke about the health benefits of the flower. It looked like his wife has forgotten about his existence again when she gets excited about finding another plant. He then started to wonder if it was a mistake to bring her here. He planned to create a romantic atmosphere with fireflies watching. But before he could do so, his wife attention was taken away by that plant.
Soon, Mingyue pulled out her notebook from her knapsack and started to jot down something. Then, she pulled out her tools and to dig out the plant, but Yang Yun stopped her.
"You're going to dig out the plant?" Yang Yun asked and saw Mingyue replied with a nod. "Let me do it for you. Didn't you say that it was hard to dig out the plant when you're wearing that thumb ring?" Yang Yun glanced at the ring on Mingyue's thumb. He then recalled that he promised to find a thread so that she can hang the ring around her neck instead of on her finger.
Mingyue handed her tools and watched as her husband dug the plant. "Careful. The plant has small thorns. Don't hurt the root."
Yang Yun could only listen to his wife's instruction obediently. Soon, the plant was dug out, and the root and soil were wrapped in a cloth.
Mingyue watched the plant in her hand with adoration. Then, she lifted her gaze to look at her husband. "Yang Yun, thank you. You're getting better at digging out plants for me."
Yang Yun chuckled. He was slightly upset when Mingyue paid too much attention towards the plant, but seeing the smile on her face made him forget about everything.
"You're bleeding," Mingyue pointed out. She placed the plant on the ground and grabbed Yang Yun's hand. Blood oozed out from his finger. Mingyue looked at Yang Yun with a frown. "Didn't I tell you to be careful of the thorns?"
Mingyue then turned around to pluck a leaf and wrapped his injured hand with it. Yang Yun was about to say that the injury was too small, but then he chose to stay in silent as he enjoyed Mingyue's care.
