Because she spent most of her time in the Imperial Infirmary, she smelled a bit like medicinal herbs. He wasn't sure when he started thinking about how this scent helped him to calm.
"Stop struggling and let me hug you," he whispered into her ears. "It has been months since the last time I saw you. Let me stay this way for a minute." His lips curved into a smile when she stops moving.
"Yang Yun," she whimpered when five minutes have pa.s.sed. "Someone might come to fetch some herbs later. It's not good if anyone walks on us. You're not asleep, are you?"
"Who dares to say anything. We are betrothed."
"Still…"
He reluctantly pulled away from her. The smile on his lips gradually faded when he saw her pale countenance. "What's wrong ? You look pale. Did I hurt you?"
"Nothing." She mustered a smile. "I'm fine."
"Mingyue," he touched her lightly on her shoulder and frowned when he saw a touch of red on her shoulder. He tried to get a closer look, but she blocked her shoulder with her hand.
He peeled her hand away and when he saw that red spot seeping into her cloth, his gaze darkened. After fighting countless battles in the army, he was very familiar with those shades of red. "You're injured."
"It's not that bad." Jiang Mingyue clenched her teeth knowing that she could no longer hide it from him.
She had thought that her wound would heal quickly, but it seemed that the arrow had penetrated deeper and she hasn't got the chance to rest after her return to the capital properly. Moreover, she hadn't thought that Yang Yun would return sooner.
Yang Yun shot her a look. Then, he turned to stand up. "Stay here. I will call the physician."
Mingyue grabbed his hand before he walked away. "It won't be necessary. I've treated the wound and applied for some medicine. The wound will heal soon."
She gave him an a.s.suring smile when the frown on his forehead deepened. "I am a physician too. Don't you trust me?"
"Even if I trust you as a physician, a doctor shouldn't treat themselves."
"Yang Yun…"
He stared at her for a long time. Her pleading eyes finally made him succ.u.mbed.
"Forget it." He let out a long sigh and sat down next to her. He trusted that she knew what she was doing. After all, Mingyue came from a long line of medical pract.i.tioners. He knew how good Mingyue is with medicine. "Tell me what happened."
Jiang Mingyue made him turn around as she took out her medical kit to dress her wound while she briefed him about her adventure to look for the flower.
Luckily, she always carried a medicinal plaster with her, so it doesn't take her a long time to dress her wound.
When she looked at him again, she could tell that he was angry. Mingyue swallowed as she put her hand on his. "Yang Yun?"
