38 A Stroll In The Market 1

As soon as she went back from the Imperial Infirmary, Jiang Mingyue headed straight to the market. At the corner of a street, a familiar tall build was seen waiting with his gaze on the ground.

Her lips curved into a playful smile when she saw him. She walked towards him stealthily and leaped forward to startle him.

Yang Yun raised a hand to caress her hair. His lips curved into an amusing smile. "What are you doing?"

Mingyue pouted. "Why are you not surprised?"

Yang Yun chuckled at her question. "If I'm easily startled, do you think it would be worthy of me to hold the position as the captain?" His smile widened as he watched her expression changed. "Come on. Didn't you say that you were going to treat me to a meal?"

"Right! I'm supposed to treat you to a meal to congratulate you for recuperating well. What do you want to eat?"

"I'm not picky. You choose a place."

She smiled at his words. "Can we go to Yan Zifu's place?"

Not long after, the couple was seated in Yan Zifu's restaurant. Because Jiang Mingyue was a regular and a friend of Yan Zifu, the waiter quickly took her to a private room upstairs.

From the window, they could see the road. The trees lined up at both sides of the road. Soon, the cold season will begin. The leaves have fallen down the ground. It was easier for them to look at the people walking down the street.

Yang Yun closed the window to stop the cold wind from blowing in. Then, he reached for Mingyue's hand to provide some warmth.

"It's not that cold," Mingyue said as she stared at their hands.

Yang Yun continued to warm her hand without saying anything. Anyone saw the gentle look in his eyes as he stared at her would know how much he loves the girl.

"Later, I need to visit the market to get something," Mingyue said. "Ying Yi wanted to join the physicians to the western region to help the victims. It will be cold over there."

He nodded. "I don't have to return to camp immediately. I'll go with you."

A waiter walked into the room with a plate of snacks and a teapot of tea. Yang Yun withdrew his hand from Mingyue's and placed their order. Upon hearing the name of the dishes, Mingyue smiled. Those dishes he picked was mostly her favorite.

When the waiter walked out, Mingyue poured them a cup of tea. The sweet smell of fresh tea wafted in the room.

Yang Yun glanced at her hands around the warm teacup. Just now she had told him that it wasn't too cold, but now Mingyue was trying to warm her hand with the cup. He retracted his gaze when he recalled something.

"My mother and sister will be arriving in the capital in a month." Yang Yun said.
