Once they walked past the gate, Mingyue adjusted the cloak that covered from her head to toe where Jiang Xiao Tian successfully sneaked in his sister to the Crown Princess palace.
Mingyue marveled at the festivity decoration in the palace. The Crown Princess' wedding will be held in a few days, and the servants walked back and forth to set up everything before the big day. Because the Princess will be marrying the young Emperor of Qian Rong, everything will need to be perfect.
A maidservant greeted both Jiang Xiao Tian once he arrived. She glanced at the person beside Jiang Xiao Tian and frowned. Because of Jiang Xiao Tian's status, none of the guards or maidservants dared to ask anything.
Princess Lingchen stepped into the hall after five minutes with Ah Zhen trailing after her. Immediately, Jiang Xiao Tian stepped forward and properly greeted the Princess. Mingyue then followed her brother's action.
Seeing that Jiang Xiao Tian came with a guest, Princess Lingchen did not say anything when he gave her a proper salute.
"You can be at ease," Princess Lingchen said. Her lips curved into a diplomatic smile as she gave a questioning gaze to Jiang Xiao Tian. "You brought along a guest?"
"Yes, Your Highness," Jiang Xiao Tian said. "Since you're getting married in a few days, I brought in a famous physician to read your pulse and check on your health."
"Famous? How famous?" Princess Lingchen sneered before narrowed her eyes at Jiang Xiao Tian. "Jiang Xiao Tian, do you think that this palace no longer had a good physician? Is this person more capable than my grandfather, Han Zhenting."
Jiang Xiao Tian smiled. "This person, even the famous Physician Han Zhenting, had admitted that her skill is better than his. Moreover, she used to be a student under our grandfather."
Princess Lingchen shot a surprised look. Her brow furrowed as she glanced at the person. "You are now in the Crown Princess' palace. Not showing your face when this Crown Princess stood before you, don't you think you're quite daring?
Mingyue put her hands on the cloak that was covering her head and hesitated. With a big smile on her face, Mingyue removed her covering and said, "Your Highness, you don't think your former physician is qualified to check on your pulse?"
Her eyes widened as she looked at the familiar face. Just like everyone else, she was in disbelief to see Mingyue before her eyes.
This was the person who had disappeared because of her.
For the last six years, Princess Lingchen had blamed herself. It was because Mingyue wanted to cure the poison in her body that Mingyue had dug out the Shadow Gra.s.s and disappeared.
Princess Lingchen could not react for the first few minutes. Once she finally snapped out of her trance, Princess Lingchen rushed towards Mingyue and hugged her tightly. Once the Crown Princess could feel Mingyue's warm body, her tears flowed down nonstop.
"Mingyue, you're back," Princess Lingchen spoke incoherently. She had forgotten how she, as the princess of the country, should always maintain and conceal her emotion.
"I'm back," Mingyue wrapped her arms around the Princess' as she patted her on her back.
Seeing the way the cousin in each other embrace, Jiang Xiao Tian tacitly retreated. Before he left, he signaled Ah Zhen to send away the servants.
As the longest servants serving the Princess, Ah Zhen quickly understood that the two would need some time to talk. Ah Zhen wiped the tears in the corner of her eyes before she closed the door behind her.
The two cousins stayed that way until they could no longer shed their tears. Princess Lingchen led Mingyue inside, and the two sat together. Of course, the first thing that Mingyue wanted to do was to check on the Crown Princess' pulse.
Jiang Mingyue was the Princess' former physician, and she knew a lot about the cold poison in the Princess' body. Once she heard that the cold poison had disappeared, Mingyue was happy, but until she could check on the Princess' condition herself, she could not be at ease.
Mingyue sighed with relief when she can no longer felt the presence of that poison. Only then that she let go of the Princess' hand.
"You look well," Princess Lingchen commented. She had been observing Mingyue as her cousin was taking her pulse. "I'm glad that you did not suffer any grievance, or else, I would not know what I should do. Mingyue, I owed you so much."
"Don't say that. You don't owe me anything," Mingyue said and sighed. She patted the Princess' hands to console her. "You know that I will always do my best to look after patients."
Princess Lingchen smiled. Though she knew that Mingyue would not let her blame herself, Princess Lingchen could not shake off that feeling off her chest. She owed Mingyue and her husband too much.
Back then, she had to pull herself together and pretended to be strong. However, when she heard how Yang Yun had got himself into an accident and had almost lost his will to live, Princess Lingchen felt her heartbroken.
She was not as strong as how everyone had thought. Only Ah Zhen had seen how she had cried and blamed herself in the night as everyone has gone to bed. But the next morning, she woke up and attended the court and learned from her tutor as if she had not cried her eyes out the previous night.
Princess Lingchen tightened her grip on Mingyue's hand. "If there is anything that I can do for you, you have to tell me. I will do anything."
Mingyue was about to say that she did not need anything but paused. "Well, there is something that I wanted to ask from you."
The Princess' eyes sparkled, knowing that there was something that she can do for her benefactor. "Tell me what it is."
"I heard that the palace was going to hold a grand wedding in two weeks."
The Princess' eyes dimmed at the mention of her wedding.
Mingyue naturally noticed the slight change in the Princess' expression. She smiled and continued, "I want to be part of your wedding."
"This thing you don't need to ask," Princess Lingchen said. "As the most important person in my life, naturally, you will have to attend and be part of my wedding."
Mingyue laughed. "Won't your future husband get jealous once he heard that I am the most important person in your life?"
Princess Lingchen bit her lips and frowned. "You know that this marriage is nothing but political."
"I thought that the Emperor of Qian Rong and you suit each other." Mingyue smiled. "Speaking of that, I still could not believe that the prince I saved had turned into an emperor. Do you think that since I am his benefactor, I could request some benefit for myself?"
