Within that week, Mingyue introduced Yang Yun to her adoptive parents, and on the same day, her sister and Xue Yi Ming were engaged.
It was not until a few days ago that she returned to her rented place. Her vacation was over, and she had to return to work. If it were not for this reason, her adoptive parents would not allow her to live alone.
Once Mingyue returned to work, she found that her work was piling. In the end, she had buried her nose under her work for the whole week, that she spent her days more living in the hospital.
Because Mingyue had decided to return to her world, she intended to finish her current paperwork before she sent in her resignation later. Mingyue knew that the others would be upset, especially her mentor, Professor Gu. However, Mingyue would rather make a clean break with everyone in this world rather than disappearing, just like that.
There are more than three months left, and she needed to work hard to conclude everything.
…
Mingyue did not know how long she had slept on the sofa, but when she woke up, she found herself in her husband's arms as he was carrying her into the room.
Noticing her slight movement, Yang Yun tilted his head down and smiled. "You're awake?"
"Hmm," Mingyue responded. Then, she burrowed her face into his chest and closed her eyes.
"Why didn't you return to your room if you're going to sleep?"
"Too tired."
Yang Yun let out a sigh. He entered her room and laid her body on the bed. As he was about to loosen his hand around her, Mingyue wrapped her arms around his waist, refusing to let him go. In the end, Yang Yun can only smile with helplessness while staying by her side.
"Why are you here? Didn't you say you're accompanying Brother Xue to meet a client?" Mingyue asked. She was too lazy to open up her eyes.
"Well, it's almost midnight."
"What?" Mingyue sprung up and walked to the window. The sky was still bright when she returned to her apartment. But as she looked out the window, the sky had long turned dark, and the surrounding around her apartment has gone quiet. Most of everyone around the neighborhood has gone to bed.
"Have you had your dinner yet?" Yang Yun asked.
Mingyue shook her head, and coincidentally, her stomach started to growl.
Yang Yun chuckled. "You should go clean up and change. I will make something for you to eat."
Mingyue watched Yang Yun retreating back view and glanced at the clock. Then, she grabbed a change of clothes before she walked in into the bathroom. It was already so late. But she was too tired to notice.
When Mingyue walked out of her room, Yang Yun was still in the kitchen. So, she went over to the sofa and took out her phone from her bag.
There were a few messages and missed calls. Her phone was set into a silent mode. That was why she could not hear anything before Yang Yun came over. Mingyue checked on the call log and smiled, noticing that all missed calls came from Yang Yun. Then, she checked her messages and replied to a few important ones before she put her phone on the table and went to the kitchen.
"That smells delicious," Mingyue commented. She peeked into the pot and saw that Yang Yun was preparing some porridge.
"I'm almost done," Yang Yun said. "Sit down. I will bring the food to you later."
Mingyue wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him from the back for a few seconds. "Thank you."
Yang Yun brought out a bowl of porridge along with some side dishes. Then, he watched as she ate, as they chatted about what was going on with their life. Occasionally, Mingyue would try and feed him a few spoonfuls of porridge. When Yang Yun finished, he took the empty bowl away from her to wash. Mingyue could only argue with him for a while before she gave in and walked over to the sofa.
"Right. Xue Yi Ming said he's planning to convince his parents and yours so that he can marry your sister in two months." Yang Yun said as he sat down next to her.
"Two months?"
Yang Yun nodded. "Xue Yi Ming said that he wanted to have a wedding before we go back to our world. At least your sister will be happy when you attend her wedding."
Mingyue let out a sigh as she thought of her sister. Though she was surprised at how her sister was getting married soon, she wanted her sister to live a happy life.
"Are you going to return to the Lin's residence tomorrow?"
"Hmm," Mingyue nodded. "Previously, I have hinted to my parents about the existence of another world. My dad, he did not seem like he thinks it's something impossible. He said that this world is so vast, and there are a lot of things that cannot be explained by science. I plan to spend time with my parents and test them further."
Yang Yun pulled his wife closer to him and planted a kiss on her forehead. "It's been tough on you, wife."
Her lips curved into a smile as she watched him. Then, Mingyue leaned forward, closed the small gap between them, and pressed her lips against Yang Yun's in a kiss.
Just as Mingyue was about to pull back, Yang Yun held the back of her head to deepened their kiss. Mingyue was stunned at the way his lips moved sensually against hers. In the end, she was swept by the sensation and started to respond to him.
Yang Yun groaned.
He only thought that her kiss was too short, and he wanted to lengthen it. After all, he won't be able to see his wife at the weekend when she returned to the Lin's residence. However, once his lips made contact with hers, he found that he did not want to stop kissing her soft lips. The way she had kissed him back only awakens something deep within him.
"Yang Yun…"
Mingyue let out a soft moan. He was still kissing her relentlessly, and his hands caressed everywhere on her skins. They only parted for a second to catch their breath and continued. The lack of oxygen in her brain had turned her dizzy. She had no choice but to hook her arms around his neck to steady herself.
Soon, his lips started to s.h.i.+ft from her lips to her cheek, her ears, and her neck. Mingyue could only gasp and tightened her hold on him. Her mind had turned fuzzy, and she was not sure what she wanted to do.
Suddenly, Yang Yun pulled away to look at her. Mingyue opened her eyes, and their gaze met. His gaze was piercing and dark. Then, he spoke in a low, hoa.r.s.e voice, "Mingyue… we, we never consummated our marriage."
Mingyue was stunned as she stared at her husband. His words to her, sounded as if he was asking her permission.
Back then, after their wedding, Mingyue had to go back to the palace to treat the Princess and missed their first wedding night. Then, Spring Hunt began and then, she went missing. They have been married for six years and had never consummated their marriage.
Their gaze stayed lock for a few minutes longer and saw the hesitant and expectation in his eyes. Soon, Mingyue drew her face closer and kissed him.
