Jiang Mingyue sat silently as she listened to Yang Yun's recounted the event after she had gone missing. As she looked at her husband's face, Mingyue felt her heart grew heavy. She could not imagine what Yang Yun had felt when she disappeared. She could imagine his panic and worry.
But in the end, he chose to deliver the herb back to her grandfather to save the Princess.
Mingyue had worked hard to find the herbs that could cure the poison in the Princess' body. Yang Yun simply did not want his wife's effort to go to waste.
Her eyes stung. Subconsciously, her grip on Yang Yun's s.h.i.+rt tightened. At this time, Mingyue felt distressed for her husband. She could only promise to herself that she will never do something as dangerous again. From then on, she will stay by his side and treat him well.
Mingyue looked up when she felt Yang Yun's hands cupping her face. His fingers brushed against her cheek lightly.
"Don't cry," Yang Yun said with distress. "It's alright."
However, the tears that have stopped not long ago began to fall again as she thought of their family. Everyone else must be worried and sad when they heard of her disappearance. Her grandfather and parents were old. She can only wish that they were not too distress that they had neglected their health.
As Yang Yun was coaxing Mingyue not to cry, their phone rang at the same time. Yang Yun wanted to ignore it, but then, he recalled that Xue Yi Ming was waiting for him. Seeing that Yang Yun had stood up to check his phone, Mingyue took hers on the bedside table and did the same.
Their expression changed at the same time.
"My father is here," Mingyue said. Her gaze was still on the phone, and she sent a reply to her sister. Then, she looked at Yang Yun and smiled. "You should leave."
"Why do you want me to leave?" Yang Yun frowned. "Are you worried about how your father is going to react once he saw me here?"
Jiang Mingyue nodded. "Although I'm only an adopted daughter, the Lin's family treats me well. My father, General Lin, he was always worried about us."
"Then, that's the reason I should stay," Yang Yun said. "The Lin's family has been looking after you in this world. I have to thank them. Moreover, I'm a soldier. How can I run away? And your father is in the army. If he found out later that I left before meeting him, then he will not view me as a good person."
"Are you sure you wanted to meet my parents?" Mingyue raised her brow playfully. "General Lin can be quite scary."
He patted her hair and chuckle. "I've met your three brothers before. What can be more scarier than both your Eldest and Third Brother?" Yang Yun s.h.i.+vered as he recalled the day he met both Jiang Xiao Tian and Jiang Xiao Liang a day after he dated their sister.
Mingyue thought about her brothers and nodded. "What you said makes sense."
"Let's get you freshened up first," Yang Yun suggested. "Your family would worry if they saw your face now."
"I thought you were not worried?"
"I still wanted them to have a good impression on me."
…
Meanwhile, as both Xue Yi Ming and Lin Tian Yu reached downstairs, General Lin and his wife were waiting in the lobby. With Xue Yi Ming's height, he immediately spotted the elderly couple. Then, he reached for Lin Tian Yu's hand and dragged her forward.
"Mom, Dad, you're here," Lin Tian Yu said anxiously.
The Lin's couple exchanged a glance when they saw their daughter and Xue Yi Ming together.
"Are you alright?" Lin's mother asked. "Why do you look so anxious?"
Lin Tian Yu forced a smile. "Of course, it's because I was worried that you're going to wait for too long."
General Lin glanced at his daughter before he turned to Xue Yi Ming. "You came to visit Mingyue as well?"
Xue Yi Ming nodded calmly. "I heard that she was warded. So I came with Tian Yu to visit."
General Lin's gaze stayed with Xue Yi Ming a few seconds longer. Then, he looked at his daughter. "Let's go." The four of them walked towards the elevator and stopped. "Your sister has been hospitalized for a few days, and you didn't even tell us!"
"Dad, I didn't want you and mom to worry," Lin Tian Yu said as she pressed the b.u.t.ton.
General Lin cast an angry look at his daughter, causing her to shrink back in fear.
Seeing the situation, Mother Lin sighed. "That's right. How's your sister now? You didn't say it clearly on the phone. How did she faint?"
"The doctor did a check-up on her after she woke up and said she's alright," Lin Tian Yu said. "Sister fainted because she was too tired. She should be alright after resting for a few more days."
The elevator arrived, and the four of them walked in. At this time, Xue Yi Ming's phone buzzed. He read the message, and a slight frown appeared on his face. Xue Yi Ming turned to Lin Tian Yu and showed her what Yang Yun had sent to him.
Immediately, Lin Tian Yu's face began to change. "You tell him to leave," she whispered to Xue Yi Ming.
Xue Yi Ming sighed as he tapped his fingers on the screen.
The elevator stopped at their level, and the Lin's couple walked out.
"Dad, wait up!" Lin Tian Yu tugged on her father's sleeve, intending to buy more time for Xue Yi Ming to convince Yang Yun to leave.
General Lin has long noticed his daughter's strange act and knew that she was trying to hide something. With that thought, he ignored his daughter's words and walked towards the nurse station. He found out Mingyue's room and head there silently.
Lin Tian Yu exchanged another glance with Xue Yi Ming. Then, she went beside her father as he rapped his knuckles on the door. Then, he reached for the handle, entered Mingyue's ward, and paused at the door.
There was a man in her daughter's room.
