It was silent that night. Most of the light in the corridor has been turned off. The patients were on their bed, sleeping. Only a few nurses could be seen chatting with their voice lowered at their station.
Lin Mingyue smiled at the nurses before she stepped into one of the wards.
It was a room with two patients. Mingyue glanced towards the patient on the bed and saw that he was asleep. Then she headed towards the bed just at the end of the room.
Mingyue's step halted once she reached the bed. The unknown man was still unconscious on the hospital bed. Her gaze moved towards the machine and sighed in relief seeing that everything looked alright.
Then, she picked up the clipboard at the end of the bed and studied the report. Everything was good so far. They were now waiting for the man to wake up. He was expected to wake up in the morning soon.
She watched the name column. He was still an unidentified person. It seemed like his family had not come to identify him.
Mingyue walked closer to him, and her eyes fell on his face. His sleeping visage looks very peaceful. She didn't know why, but there was something familiar about this man. It feels like she knows him. Like she had seen his face before.
Throb!
Mingyue winced at the sudden throbbing pain in her head.
She could still remember the first time she saw his face earlier this morning. The man was brought in into the emergency room. He was involved in an accident.
At that time, a friend of her sister, Xue Yi Ming was the one who brought him to the hospital. According to him, this unknown man appeared suddenly. He did not have the chance to evade him and crashed into him.
Because of his guilt, Xue Yi Ming had settled with the hospital bill and pleaded her to save the victim.
Mingyue did her best to treat his wound. Not because Yi Ming pleaded her, but because she could not bear to see the man on the bed in pain.
He had a fracture on his left arms and flesh wound all over his body. Nothing life-threatening. Mingyue had seen his body in the Emergency Room earlier, and it was full of old scars. Her heart ached at the sight of it. She wondered how did he get those scars on his body.
Mingyue inched closer and brushed her fingers on his face. "Who are you? Why do I feel like I know you?" she whispered at him.
Somehow, she could imagine him dressed in all black. His eyes gentle as he looked at her. He stood gallantly, and the smile on his lips told her that everything would be alright with him around.
Mingyue closed her eyes and shook her head feeling like a fool. "What are you thinking, Mingyue!"
Because she had her eyes closed, she failed to see the slight movement from his eyes and fingers…
