A Good-For-Nothing 12: Li Zong's Thoughts

The mansion of Zhu family was located on the hillside of the Four Sides Hill.

The Four Sides Hill was a rather famous scenery spot in Shen City, since on the hill, there was a viewing platform overlooking the whole city. However, due to the height of the hill, climbing to its top was a daunting prospect. In order to make the hilltop accessible by car, local authorities of Jiangjin District specially built a vehicular road at great expense a few years ago. Even so, the trip uphill was long and winding, giving travelers dizzy spells.

That Dream Eater on the plane had sucked away part of He Zheng's vital essence, and he hadn't yet fully recovered. As the car progressed uphill along the circuitous road, he felt twinges of giddiness and his eyes felt heavier. After a couple of yawns in a row, he began nodding.

Li Zong, who had been dealing with official business on his cellphone, raised his head only to find that the person sitting beside him had fallen asleep.

Unlike his father who was of chiseled and masculine facial features, He Zheng was white-skinned and his features were extremely fine and delicate. When he was asleep, without the aggressive look in his eyes, he appeared obedient and adorable.

'He looks like a cute little rabbit.'

Since He Zheng's head was against the windowpane, every slight jolt of the car caused him to b.u.mp his head on the window, and then he would unconsciously knit his brows.

After watching him for quite a while, Li Zong felt as if the uncomfortable feeling of He Zheng was spreading onto him. Unnoticeably, when He Zheng's head tilted towards him, he fleetingly exerted his strength and with that He Zheng softly leaned his head against Li Zong's shoulder.

Probably having mistaken Li Zong's shoulder for a pillow, He Zheng briefly rubbed his cheek against it.

Li Zong, whose shoulder was serving as a flesh pillow, was in a pretty good mood, a ghost of smile on the corners of his mouth.

Zu Zhichong had been secretly paying attention to the two men sitting on the back seats all along. As he saw this scene, his stomach felt hollow with fear. 'My goodness, when did my Chief become so tender and thoughtful? What happened to that 36D ample-bosomed female demon when she tried to seduce Chief? If memory serves me well, he ran a sword right through her. Indeed, people are different from each other, and people are also different from demons.'

He Zheng had a sound sleep. When he woke up, the car was approaching the destination.

He subconsciously glimpsed at the man sitting beside him. The man still had an impa.s.sive expression on his face, but for some reason, a small patch of the shoulder of his coat was wet with some kind of suspicious liquid.

Seeing He Zheng looking at him, Li Zong slightly twisted his upper body aside.

He Zheng rolled his eyes and thought angrily, 'Okay, I'll stop looking at you. What a narrow-minded guy."

It had never crossed his mind that Li Zong had been sitting alone throughout the trip, that by no means could he have wetted the shoulder of his coat himself.

As He Zheng stared at the familiar open s.p.a.ce ahead, his eyes burned. Distantly, an archaized mansion came into view. At the gateway stood a couple of people. They were headed by a gray-haired old man looking hale and hearty.

"Grandfather!" The sight of his maternal grandfather instantly excited He Zheng. The car had barely halted when he quickly opened the door and ran up to the group of people.

"Little Zheng, you've grown so much taller than the last time I saw you a couple of years ago."

He Zheng's eyes went red. Seeing his beloved family, he felt an overwhelming urge to pour out all the grievances he had been nursing over the past few years. Tightly holding his maternal grandfather in his arms, He Zheng said in a tearful voice, "Grandfather, I brought mom back."

Eyes of Old Master Zhu also went red as he heard this. Looking at the lacquered wooden casket He Zheng was holding, he patted his arms and said, "Good boy. Go with your cousin and have some rest. I know you have a lot of grievances. You may tell me all of them later."

The two words "Good boy" instantly brought tears to his eyes. His maternal grandfather's warm hands jogged all his poignant memories.

In He family, all his mean younger brothers and younger sisters either satirized or ignored him every time they met him. And all outsiders regarded him as a sucker, calling him "good-for-nothing" behind his back. He Zheng was well aware of all these. If it weren't for that he had vegefully made up his mind to cross his father and make life difficult for his family members, he would have returned to his maternal grandfather's home a long time ago.

Eyes red, He Zheng bobbed his head. Zhu Qi's eyes were also slightly red. "Younger brother, let me show you to your room first."

"Okay." He Zheng handed the lacquered wooden casket to Old Master Zhu. "Grandfather, this is..."

"I know." Old Master Zhu took the cinerary casket with great caution and gave it an affectionate stroke, his old face covered with wrinkles, eyes br.i.m.m.i.n.g with tears. In a choked voice, he mumbled, "You're home now. All of you are home now."

Zu Zhichong and Li Zong followed in their wake. Seeing that Li Zong was in a good mood, Zu Zhichong ventured to b.u.mp his shoulder against that of Li Zong, pushed out his lips and said, "Chief, I think Young Master He is a pretty sensitive guy."

From their first meeting with He Zheng on the plane until this moment, what they had seen suggested that He Zheng indeed had a lot of shortcomings, but in front of people of Zhu family, he was like a naive child. In their eyes, a man like He Zheng, who was true to his feelings, was very good.

Li Zong blandly grunted "Um", his eyes fixed on He Zheng all along.

Having been dealing with cold-blooded demons for so many years, he always liked people as warm as sun very much.
