Chapter 202

By the time Lu Jingqing and his family arrived, Madam Lu was talking to Lu Chuwan.

She did not say anything when she saw Fu Zhi. Instead, she looked past her at Lu Yumo and waved her hand at him. “You've come, Yumo. Come over here and let grandma take a look at her good grandson. I heard from Wanwan that you've been preparing for the exam recently? It must be very tough, right? Look at how thin you've become!”

Madam Lu had never talked so gently to him before. He felt gooseb.u.mps forming on his skin and he took one large stride back.

Madam Lu's face darkened.

Then, they all moved to the dining hall. Lu Chuwan handed a bottle of pills to Madam Lu. Lu Jingqing frowned and asked, “I thought Zhizhi told you to look for another doctor after you finished your medicine?”

“This medicine is effective. It's distributed by the government and it's trademarked.” Madam Lu bragged. “This bottle alone cost a fortune, and including the medicine, its value is immeasurable. Wanwan is such a good granddaughter!”

Lu Jingqing did not comment.

Sitting on the other side of the table, Lu Chuwan looked at Fu Zhi and said, “Honestly, I was surprised as well when I got the medicine. It's very similar to the brandless medicine you gave grandma last time.”

“Yeah, it does look pretty similar,” Fu Zhi replied, glancing at Lu Chuwan with cold indifference. “However, as far as I know, the government has yet to establish a partners.h.i.+p with any third parties, so I have no idea where you got this medicine. Perhaps you got it through an illegal channel?”

She paused for a while, looked at Madam Lu with a grin on her lips, and added, “If that's the case, then you should truly love your grandmother.”

While she was talking, she leaned against the back of the chair. She looked rather casual, and there was an air of indifference about her. Nevertheless, Lu Chuwan still shuddered upon seeing her gaze, which gave her a hunch that Fu Zhi knew everything she was doing.

She opened her mouth, trying to say something, but nothing came out. However, Madam Lu was a different case. She felt that Fu Zhi was there to upset her, and her expression turned grim. She shouted, “If you have nothing constructive to say, then shut your mouth and eat your rice!”

However, every dish on the table contained mango. Apparently, these dishes had been prepared for Lu Chuwan.

Xu Wei then asked Mama Liu, “You didn't prepare sweet and sour pork ribs? Zhizhi can't eat any of this.”

“She has to eat even if she can't!” Bai Yao snarled as she slammed her chopsticks on the table. “Wanwan has been putting up with Fu Zhi this whole time, but don't you forget that Wanwan is the true heiress of the Lu Family. How can you just take care of your own daughter and ignore Wanwan's wellbeing?”

Madam Lu looked at Lu Yumo and asked, “What do you want to eat, my good grandson? Tell grandma and she'll ask Mama Liu to prepare it for you.”

Suddenly, a loud screech ripped through the air.

Lu Yumo did not reply, but Lu Jingqing rose to his feet. He pulled Fu Zhi up from her chair and said in a grave voice, “That's it, mom. If this is the reason you asked me to come home, then I will not bring my children to the Lu Household again. If you have anything to tell me in the future, let's do it in a hotel.”

Lu Chuwan still felt restless about the things Fu Zhi had said.

At 8 o'clock in the evening, she received a reply from the studio. “Chuwan, the first four songs you sent us are remarkable. Both the lyrics and the melody are phenomenal, and we believe these songs will become hits once we release them to the market. However, the last three songs are less than satisfactory. If you've run out of ideas, we have some writers we can pay to write a song for you. What do you think?”

Lu Chuwan was not in the right mood for this, so she did not reply. She instead called the core member of the research inst.i.tute and asked, “How much medicine do you have? I'll buy it all. Besides, my uncle is asking for the formula. You hurry up and bring your team to sign a contract with him.”

The person on the other side of the line sounded nervous and hesitant. “Why is he in such a hurry?”

No.1 High School was efficient, so the results of the monthly examination were released on Tuesday.

Since the level of difficulty of the examination had been a tad higher this time, most of the students had not scored as well as they used to in previous examinations.

The school posted the results on the bulletin board.
