Ning Tao had written his sin of evil intention prescription pact. He folded it and brought a pen to Li Biao.
Li Biao suddenly spoke. “Now I remember…”
Ning Tao's heart quivered. He urged, “What did you remember? Tell me, quick!”
But Li Biao did not say it outright. He stared straight at Ning Tao, his eyes full of wariness and suspicion. “You won't kill me, will you?”
Ning Tao said, “If I wanted to, I would not have saved you. You would have died in that room.”
Li Biao asked again, “You won't take me to the police, right?”
Ning Tao shook his head. “I will surely not take you to the police. In fact, I have been framed by those three guys myself. I am a wanted man.”
“That I know. I have watched the news.” Li Biao became quiet for a while, before saying, “There was once I called her to report the accounts. I heard some voice… like the call for radio calisthenics… one, two, three… one, two, three…”
Ning Tao wondered in his heart. “Radio calisthenics, one, two, three…? Could that woman be a teacher? Not likely. How can a teacher control a villain like Li Biao so well?”
“That's all I know about that woman. Since you said you will save me, please hurry,” Li Biao begged.
Ning Tao said, “Sign first. Sign it, and I will heal you.”
Li Biao grasped Ning Tao's pen in his hand. He wanted to unfold the prescription pact on the floor, but Ning Tao had stepped on that portion he wanted to read.
“Believe me, you won't like reading it,” Ning Tao said.
“There wouldn't be an IOU inside, would it?” Li Biao asked probingly.
Ning Tao berated him. “Sign! You cannot talk conditions with me!”
Li Biao shuddered, lifted his pen, and signed his name on that sin of evil intention prescription pact.
A plume of green fumes instantly loomed, engulfing Li Biao in an instant.
One minute later, the green fumes dispersed. Li Biao was lying quietly on the floor, his eyes shut. The military knife stabbed in his chest had been pulled out, resting on his chest.
Ning Tao raised up the knife. On its handle were carved the name, “Dongfang Ji.”
Was it the killer's name?
Ning Tao kept the military knife, then inserted a Sacred Needle to Nasty Diseases into Li Biao's head. This sinner who had committed all ten heinous crimes could not be pardoned. The ledger of bamboo slips had prescribed only one atonement for his prescription pact— death. Inserting the Sacred Needle to Nasty Diseases meant that Li Biao would die here. Even his body would be gone. This was the retribution for his wicked deeds. He could not blame Heaven or Earth, only himself.
Ning Tao opened the convenient door and returned to the backyard room in Dragon Gate Inn. He picked up the discarded ordinary prescription with a blood lock from the floor and kept it.
There was still the heavy stench of blood lingering in the air, as well as the unique smell of cigars from that long-haired man.
Ning Tao followed the track of that long-haired man. He went out of the resplendent building to an enclosure wall.
There was the sign of footprints on the wall. The long-haired man must have leaped up and over it.
Ning Tao also leaped up and stepped in mid-air. His feet landed gently on the top of the wall. He peered out into the distance and leaped down the wall, following the man's odor.
It was a desolate plot of land behind Dragon Gate Inn. Behind the plot was a hillock. Beyond that hillock, at a more elevated height, was the Great Wall meandering in the hills.
Ning Tao had zeroed in on the long-haired man and continued to trail him. But he soon came to a stop.
On the ground was the trail of a motorbike. Its wheel prints extended forward and Ning Tao stared into the distance. He saw that there was a road. He decided to abandon his pursuit and retraced his steps. Then he mounted G.o.d's Will and left Dragon Gate Inn.
After leaving the outskirts of Peach Blossom Village, Ning Tao drew a blood lock in the countryside. He unlocked it and returned to Sky Clinic.
Li Biao's body was no longer on the clinic floor. He had left no traces of himself behind.
Ning Tao opened the ledger of bamboo slips. The ledger indicated that his available balance had increased by 1,997 points. Exactly. The good-evil tripod started to show signs of evil energy overwhelming the good, its black fumes thicker than the white.
From the clinic, Ning Tao dialed Jiang Hao. He asked her directly, “What's happening over at your side?”
“Song Beikun didn't come, but his lawyers did. And a horde of reporters. So noisy and annoying.” It was Jiang Hao's voice. He could hear faintly on his phone the voices of men arguing.
“Will they release him?”
“No. It's no small matter this time. That ledger has implicated many men, including him. And he tried to frame you with Zeng Huaiwu. He can't go on bail for that alone. I've already instructed Commissioner Liao. He won't release the man no matter who comes,” Jiang Hao said.
“That's good,” Ning Tao said.
“How about over at your side?”
Ning Tao answered, “Let's talk after you return. It's not convenient to talk on the phone. And help me check up on a guy.”
“What guy?”
“A man called Dongfang Ji. 'Dongfang' as in the east, 'ji' as in Lyu Bu's Sky Piercer.” Ning Tao was detailed in his description.
“Okay. I will check him up later. I'm afraid I can't go back tonight. Take good care of yourself,” came Jiang Hao's voice.
“You have an early night too.” Ning Tao then hung up the phone.
Jiang Hao was guarding Song Chengpeng, and she would surely not let him go on bail although he had connections. As long as Song Chengpeng was confined in the police station, he would be under Ning Tao's control. Song Chengpeng was his trump card. He must control him to save Yin Molan.
In the meantime, he could only spare that woman behind Li Biao, and that long-haired killer. The most pressing issue now was to investigate Yin Molan. Where was he now? If Yin Molan had been killed while investigating Genesis Biotech Company, then sorry, even though the ledger only ordered Song Chengpeng's castration, he would not let the man live!
Ning Tao came to the lock wall. He found a new blood lock, unlocked it and walked in through the convenient door. Two seconds later, he appeared in a room.
Boom!
A forked lightning sundered the sky, its snowy brightness illuminating the room.
It was the room of a farmer. Qing Zhui and Bai Jing were lying a wooden pallet, sleeping. There was torrential rain outside the window, with wild gales blowing. But none of this had affected their sleep. When Ning Tao came to their room, they both awoke at the same time.
“Brother Ning, when did you come?” Qing Zhui seemed overjoyed. Before Ning Tao could talk, she had crawled up from the bed.
She was clad only in a pair of bra.s.sieres and bikini panties. Her figure was lovely and enticing. Bai Jing was dressed like her, without any additional clothing. Their figures were generously exposed before Ning Tao's eyes.
Bai Jing turned her body to one side and said lazily, “Brother-in-law, should I get out of the room and let you two have the bed?”
Ning Tao smiled awkwardly. “No need, no need, I'm just here for a visit. I want to know the situation here. After that, I will talk to you two about a certain matter.”
Since Bai Jing was next to them, Qing Zhui could not have any intimate interactions with Ning Tao. She went down the bed and brought for Ning Tao a stool. After Ning Tao sat down, she poured him a gla.s.s of water. He seemed like a husband who had just returned home, his wife serving him dutifully.
“What do you want to talk about?” Bai Jing still maintained the same posture of lying on her side. Her arm popping her chin, her one leg over the other, her curvatures were alluring.
Qing Zhui handed Ning Tao the gla.s.s of water, then stood behind him ma.s.saging his shoulder. Ning Tao enjoyed it peacefully.
They were possibly the closest sisters and brother-in-law in this world. The elder sister could flirt openly with the brother-in-law before her sister and the latter would not get jealous. She would even ma.s.sage her husband's shoulders.
Ning Tao steadied his heart somewhat and said, “Let's hear about you two first. How are things progressing over at your side?”
Bai Jing replied, “This is a village in the west. Um… what's its name?”
Qing Zhui rolled her eyes at Bai Jing. “Has your brain gone down to your b.r.e.a.s.t.s? Our company has put in 10 million for disaster relief. As the president of the company, you don't even remember the village's name? This village is called Yujiang Village. It's very near to the ancient city of Shu Province, Pingwu.”
Instead of getting angry, Bai Jing started to chuckle. “Well, my sister has the better memory. Your child will do well in school.”
Ning Tao was speechless.
Bai Jing continued, “Like my sister has said, we have put in 10 million for disaster relief and reconstruction efforts. We have set up temporary resettlement sites here, and bought the victims bedding and daily necessities. Also, we have repaired the bridges and roads. We have spent a lot. That's the situation here. When the torrential rains stop and the floods recede, we will leave behind some funds and hire someone else to do our jobs. We will just oversee them remotely. If we stay on, the works will take half a year to a year to complete. Even if Qing Zhui does not cuckold you, I will get her to.”
Ning Tao coughed drily, “Sister Bai, let's not joke.”
“What do you want to talk about?” Bai Jing asked. Ning Tao's reaction had made her bored.
Ning Tao said, “I have brought you bad news.”
Qing Zhui became tense at once. “Is the Howling Celestial Dog dead?”
Ning Tao said, “No, it's fine. It must be playing the Tiktok app with its cell phone right now. I'm talking about Senior Yin. I haven't had news from him for a while. I can't get through his number too. Did he contact either of you all this while?”
Qing Zhui and Bai Jing both shook their heads.
Ning Tao was not surprised by this. He continued, “I guess he must have fallen into the hands of the Genesis Biotech Company. Or the hands of that company's pract.i.tioners.”
Bai Jing was surprised. “Why haven't I heard of these pract.i.tioners before?”
Qing Zhui wondered, “Could it be the Tang Sect?”
Ning Tao thought about Tang Zixian and shook his head, “Not likely it's them. Do you two remember the incident at the Dead Leaves Temple just outside Guan City? Those believers referred to Bai Sheng as their sect leader. Bai Sheng's disciples Liu Xian'er and Wu Xiaolin were taken away by a woman. Until now, I cannot find any clues on her. Nor do I know who she is.”
A tinge of greenish light flitted across Qing Zhui's eyes. “Senior Yin is our man. Whoever dares hurt him will pay with his life, no matter who he is.”
Ning Tao said, “Prepare yourselves. Take that Ancestor-seeking Elixir I gave you. I believe there will be a big battle soon.”
Bai Jing said, “We have taken the first elixirs you gave us. Our demon power has improved. But we haven't taken the last elixirs. You want us to take them?”
Ning Tao said, “You won't lack elixirs if you stay with me. Just take them. After that, I will refine some more for you.”
Bai Jing smiled. “My sister is truly blessed to have married a cultivating doctor who refines pills. Even I, as a sister, feel honored.”
Qing Zhui smiled bashfully.
Ning Tao said, “I have to go now. The situation over there is complicated. I'm afraid Jiang Hao can't handle them alone.”
“Don't go. Leaving just after you came? Let's play 'Fight the Landlord' for a while.” Bai Jing fished out a deck of cards from under the pillow. Then she patted the bed. “Come up, let's play 'Fight the Landlord'. Whoever loses shall be tickled. Or will have to strip.”
Ning Tao was speechless.
Playing “Fight the Landlord”— and whoever lost must be tickled or had to strip. Could they play this game? Since they were both so scantily dressed, they would be starkly naked if he picked up a king!
