Chapter 370

Two pairs of eyes staring at each other.

There was no fear on Song Chengpeng's face. His body had the imposing bearing of a traditional warrior. “I have to admit that you're bold. Do you dare to kill us here?”

Ning Tao shook his head.

Song Chengpeng continued, “The men here, be it Ji Xiaofeng, Lang Wei or myself, can make you regret after we leave. How did such a minor confrontation escalate to such a degree? I really don't understand what you want.”

Ning Tao said, “Since you asked, I will tell you. Who in Genesis Biotech Company is manufacturing the Ancestor-seeking Elixir for the Inst.i.tute of Biology? I have a friend called Yin Molan. Where is he now? These are my questions. If you tell me the truth and my friend's whereabouts, I will spare you.”

“Hahaha…” Song Chengpeng started to laugh.

Ning Tao only looked at him, his expression calm.

Song Chengpeng halted his laughter. “Don't even dream of getting a word out from me.”

The moment his voice faded, Song Chengpeng suddenly bent his knees, s.h.i.+fting his body's center of gravity backwards. He sprang on his feet and his entire person catapulted like a cricket, ramming against the office door.

Ning Tao did not pursue him. Song Chengpeng was already a fish on hook, so where else could he run to? At this moment when Song Chengpeng was pouncing, Ning Tao suddenly dropped down beside the unconscious Ji Xiaofeng, whose nose he had broken. He stretched out his hand and smeared blood from Ji Xiaofeng's face all over his own.

Song Chengpeng's eyes bulged wide.

What was he doing?

Such a strong and powerful man, yet so sinister!

Bang!

The office door was rammed open.

“Don't move!” From the corridor came Liao Bing's angry bellow.

A dozen guns were aiming at the tottering Song Chengpeng, who had just rammed open the door.

“No…” Song Chengpeng said tensely. “It was him… not me…”

The voice of a woman resounded from the outside corridor. “Who else but you? You a.s.saulted the police and tried to silence a man in the station. What made you so bold? Your dad or your money?”

Jiang Hao had arrived. She was in a well-ironed uniform, her waist slim and her legs long. She seemed valiant and dauntless.

“Superintendent Jiang.” Liao Bing stood at attention.

The commissioner of the police station stood at attention, so the rest of them did too to welcome her. Not even Zeng Huaiwu was received this way.

They were both high-ranking officers, but Zeng Huaiwu's reception could not compare with Jiang Hao's.

“Is the chief doing fine?” Liao Bing asked softly.

The chief he was referring to was Ding Ye. Before Ding Ye retired, he was Liao Bing's superior. The latter was only a major then.

Jiang Hao replied, “The old man's fine. He trains with his sword every day and plays chess too. We can visit him one of these days. He will be delighted to see you.”

Liao Bing nodded and said no more. It was not the time to chat about these things.

This was the reason why Ning Tao had chosen this particular police station to surrender. When his rented courtyard house was surrounded, Jiang Hao had mumbled a few words of instruction into his ears. She told him that the commissioner here was Liao Bing. Jiang Hao had arranged everything while Ning Tao was on his way here.

“So… you…” Song Chengpeng seemed to have understood.

Jiang Hao strode up to Song Chengpeng, her pretty face clouded over by frost. “Kneel down!”

Song Chengpeng did not kneel. He said boldly, “There is no law in our country that can make a man kneel. Who do you think you are?”

Jiang Hao suddenly raised her leg and kicked Song Chengpeng on his lower abdomen.

His feet on the floor, Song Chengpeng slid several steps away before toppling. Before he could crawl up, two policemen had pressed him down and put him in handcuffs.

“What are you doing? You are framing me openly! Release me! I will sue you! I want my lawyer!” Song Chengpeng bellowed.

A greenish light flashed across Jiang Hao's eyes. She took two steps forward and raised her leg to step on Song Chengpeng's head.

A human figure suddenly darted out of the office, catching Jiang Hao by her waist and stopping her.

The man who was stained with blood just now had revived.

Ning Tao spoke into Jiang Hao's ear. “Calm down. I have put something on his body. If you hit him, you will foil my plan.”

Jiang Hao nodded and then whispered, “Release me.”

Ning Tao hurriedly moved back. If she were to freeze him at this moment, goodness knows how many people would be stunned.

Song Chengpeng crawled up from the floor and reached for his cell phone.

“What are you doing?” Liao Bing berated.

Song Chengpeng replied angrily, “You won't prohibit me from making a call, will you? I'm calling my dad to get me a lawyer. Oh, by the way, reporters are coming!”

Liao Bing was just about to speak when Ning Tao said, “Commissioner Liao, let him call. I want to see what kind of father will bring up such a son.”

The owner of the Genesis Biotech Company. Ning Tao really wanted to meet this man.

Liao Bing said, “Release him and take him to the interrogation room. If he wants to call, it must done under our surveillance.”

Song Chengpeng was taken to the interrogation room. As his shoulder brushed past Ning Tao's, his eyes were like two keen blades.

Liao Bing brought his men into the office.

The first to wake was Zeng Huaiwu. The moment he regained consciousness, he was put in handcuffs. He immediately lost composure. “What are you guys doing? Who gave you the right to put me in handcuffs? Would you like to be a traffic policeman? Liao Bing, come here. Give me a f**king explanation!”

Liao Bing sneered. “An explanation? You were torturing a suspect in my office. I have it on video.”

“But you don't have the right to put me in handcuffs!”

Jiang Hao said, standing at the door, “It's been quite a while. Haven't you realized that your connections won't work? You won't be heavily punished for torturing a suspect. We will at most give you a light punishment. But you were bribed by Dragon Gate Inn and were a frequent client there. That alone will suffice you getting charged and sentenced.”

Zeng Huaiwu was stupefied. He had not seen the accounts of Dragon Gate Inn, nor the video in the hard disk. But Jiang Hao had just informed him that Ning Tao had found much legal evidence against him in the inn.

“Just wipe your b.u.m and prepare to sit in jail. You think you're a big shot? You overestimate yourself.” Jiang Hao left after these words and went with Ning Tao to the interrogation room.

In the corridor, Ning Tao asked, “Who did you give the evidence to?”

Jiang Hao replied, “My superior. He wants to meet you. I told him I must get your approval first. Would you like to see him?”

Ning Tao thought about it and shook his head. “Better not. If I were to see your superior, I might be formally recruited. I'm not cut out to be a soldier. I'm used to freedom.”

A faint smile hovered on Jiang Hao's lips. “You are cut out to be an immortal.”

Ning Tao smiled. “Come, let's go see that wretch, Song Chengpeng.”

Jiang Hao and Ning Tao walked abreast, talking along the way. “Did those fellows abuse you?”

Ning Tao replied, “Didn't you see what the situation was in Commissioner Liao's office? They hammered my chest and knee.”

“Did it hurt?” Jiang Hao asked with concern.

Ning Tao said, “Of course. Why don't I try hammering your chest? See if it hurts!”

Jiang Hao quietly spat, her face reddening. Her voice was low. “This is the police station. If you want to be cheeky, do it at home. There you can do whatever you like. The problem is… do you dare?”

Ning Tao was speechless.

Jiang Hao was not like this in the past. In his heart, she was a very upright, compet.i.tive and conservative girl. But ever since she became a new demon, there was more demon aura around her body and her personality had changed. She would say outright some things she would not have before. She would even do things she would not have dared in the past. Even more troubling, she knew that he could not touch her, yet she still kept on tempting him. She would do it all so irresponsibly. Wasn't she becoming a torment?

In the interrogation room, Song Chengpeng was in handcuffs. A cell phone was on the table before him.

The interrogating policeman said, “You can call now. But watch your words. Everything you say will be recorded and may become evidence in court.”

Ning Tao and Jiang Hao came to the tempered gla.s.s wall, watching through the one-way gla.s.s.

Song Chengpeng picked up the cell phone from the table but did not immediately call. He seemed to be pondering and hesitating.

Ning Tao frowned slightly. “This Song Chengpeng isn't like the other two. He's very smart, Quite a tough nut to crack.”

Jiang Hao was unperturbed. “No matter how smart he is, he still fell for your trick. You're smarter.”

Ning Tao only smiled. He opened his palm and gathered his thoughts. Something flashed and a green copper key suddenly appeared in it.

The key to Sky Clinic.

Within a certain distance, Ning Tao could detect the presence of this key and summon it back. He had not tested the range within which his powers would work, but he guessed it must be quite some distance. In other words, no one in this world could trap him, nor could any prison confine him. With this key in hand, he could return to Sky Clinic using a blood lock.

“Keep it, quick. There will be trouble if this is discovered,” Jiang Hao urged.

Ning Tao kept the key to Sky Clinic. “Later, bring me my watch from the evidence room.”

He could summon the key to Sky Clinic, but not the Whisperer, his wrist watch.

“Okay,” Jiang Hao a.s.sented.

Ning Tao's eyes fell on Song Chengpeng.

Song Chengpeng had finally made up his mind. He dialed a number and spoke. “Dad, don't come. That man's target is you.”

From the loudspeakers came Song Chengpeng's voice. Ning Tao was stunned. He had not expected Song Chengpeng to say this after contacting Song Beikun.

Song Chengpeng merely said these words before putting the phone down. He placed the cell phone back on the table and turned to watch the gla.s.s wall.

Ning Tao said, “He knows we are watching him from the outside.”

Jiang Hao frowned slightly, “It is just as you predicted. This guy is very smart. It will be easy for guys like him to escape punishment, judging from the evidence you gave me. So long as his family offers the girl a ma.s.sive compensation and shut her up. Even if we manage to charge him, it will only ruin his reputation. He looks ready to accept that.”

Ning Tao suddenly remembered something and left.

“Where are you going?” Jiang Hao asked.

“I have to visit Dragon Gate Inn,” Ning Tao said.

“I'll go with you,” Jiang Hao said.

Ning Tao said, “No, you stay here. There are more issues here. You can handle them, but I can't. Wait for my call.”

“Be careful,” Jiang Hao exhorted.
