As the sun rose, the mist that shrouded the mountains lifted and the golden sun shone down. The Sky Clinic looked as if coated in gold, giving the impression that it was hidden in this modern city of high-rise buildings.
After seven days of practice, Ning Tao finally opened the door of the Sky Clinic and walked out.
During this seven-day seclusion, he spent the first three days strengthening his spiritual power, and the next four days practicing the cultivation method and punch skill which he obtained after the clinic upgraded. The pre-school punch skill had a total of three moves, but due to limited time, he only practiced the Cat Claw Punch and the Powerful Tolerance to Beating.
It was, of course, not enough to practice for four days, so he didn't master the skills proficiently. He just managed to cross the threshold. If he had had more time, he would have practiced them more skillfully and better. Unfortunately, he didn't have more time.
Then, Ning Tao went to the mountain forest behind the Sky Clinic. Qing Zhui's cave was in front, and before he could get near, a large group of snakes came out of the gra.s.s and blocked his path.
"Qing Zhui?" Ning Tao called out.
No response came from the cave.
Ning Tao strode over to the cave, ignoring the snakes. He could bear the Tang Sect's poison needles and darts at will, not to mention poisonous snakes. Miraculously, when he moved, the snakes in front of him moved out of the way. They seemed to recognize their master's master. After all, a snake's tongue was almost as sensitive as a dog's nose, and they could tell his scent.
Ning Tao entered the cave and immediately smelled a luring and mysterious scent.
The cave was quiet, and Qing Zhui was not there. The mysterious scent was just her residual natural smell in the cave.
Ning Tao found a note on her stone bed that said, "I called you, but I didn't get through. Is your cell phone dead? I left you a portable power source under my pillow. I'm watching over the children at Suns.h.i.+ne Orphanage. You can call me or come to the orphanage."
Ning Tao gave a wry smile. Even for pract.i.tioners, a dead cell phone was a headache in modern society.
Ning Tao put the note back, and took a portable power source from under Qing Zhui's pillow. Then he charged his phone and left the cave.
As he returned to the Sky Clinic, Ning Tao opened a blood lock on the stone wall with his small medicine chest, and then walked in. When he came out, he was already in the second clinic's injection room.
The second clinic was quiet. No one was in the injection room, and nor was the other room of the clinic. However, as he was walking out of the injection room, Ning Tao heard a loud noise coming from outside. It was not the sound of children laughing, but was the sound of arguments.
Ning Tao opened the door and went out with his medicine chest. Far away he saw a large group of children around the big iron gate of the Suns.h.i.+ne Orphanage, led by Su Ya. Ge Ming was standing outside the gate, arguing with a big bunch of men in hard hats. Some of those people held steel pipes and long-handled wire cutters, looking aggressive, and Ge Ming appeared weak in the face of them.
Across the wall of Suns.h.i.+ne Orphanage, Ning Tao saw some engineering vehicles, like forklift trucks, bulldozers, dumpers, muck trucks. This surprised him and gave him a bad feeling.
"You can't go in! This is the orphanage. Who gave you the right?" shouted Ge Ming, excited.
"If there is no legal basis, will we come here to tear down the orphanage? This is the real estate of Happy Village. Someone bought this piece of land. We were hired by the buyer to tear down the orphanage. If you continue to stop us, we'll get tough!" uttered a man, who might be the foreman.
"I just won't move today. What are you going to do to me?" Ge Ming wasn't scared.
Su Ya also snapped, "This is an orphanage. The children here are orphans without parents. Are you not afraid of retribution for what you are going to do?"
"I don't want to talk nonsense with you! If you have a problem with it, you can go to the government and sue us in court!" growled the possible foreman. "But if you stop us from working, we can also sue you to compensate us for the damage! Can you afford it?"
After listening to their conversations, Ning Tao already had a rough idea of what was going on. He strode toward the gate, his face impa.s.sive, but his heart burning with anger. The Suns.h.i.+ne Orphanage's house and land did belong to the Happy Village, but the house was built decades old, and it was a quite remote area, so it had no commercial value. Who would buy this land and drive these poor orphans out? The buyer was abominable!
"Uncle Ning!" Sharp-eyed Li Xiaoyu was the first to spot Ning Tao. She immediately ran to Ning Tao and complained, "Uncle Ning, these bad guys are going to tear down our orphanage!"
Ning Tao paused, reached over to touch her head, and said, "I see. Don't worry. No one can tear it down."
Although he only practiced the grade two elementary cultivation method for four days, his control over evil side had improved.
At this point, Su Ya and Ge Ming also saw Ning Tao.
"Brother Ning, you've finally come..." Su Ya walked quickly to him and added, "By the way, where did you come in?"
"I came in over the back wall," answered Ning Tao.
Su Ya subconsciously looked at the back wall, but did not know from which section of the wall Ning Tao came in, and why he came in over the wall.
"Su Ya, get the kids back and close the gate. I'll take care of it," Ning Tao said. Then he headed out the gate.
Su Ya immediately called back the kids stuck in the gate. Ning Tao walked out the gate as the kids ran back.
Ge Ming breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Tao, you're just in time. These guys are so hateful. They want to tear down the Suns.h.i.+ne Orphanage!"
Ning Tao replied, "I know, you go in and shut the gate."
Ge Ming refused, "No, I'll stay and fight with you."
Ning Tao cast a glance at him and said, "When it comes to real fighting, do I save you or fight them? Get in and don't come out."
Ge Ming spread his hands, went through the gate, and closed the iron gate.
The iron gate had just been repaired for a few days and the footprint of the disciple of Tang Sect was still left on it.
Ning Tao's eyes scanned the faces across from, and then stopped in a wood on the side. He saw Qing Zhui sitting on a tree eating sunflower seeds, her legs swinging, her white calves exposed from the bottom of her long green dress.
She had been here all the time, but she didn't do anything. It was normal. After all, if she took action, someone would die. And things hadn't gotten that far.
However, as soon as Ning Tao came out of the gate, Qing Zhui jumped down from the tree, about to come to Ning Tao.
Ning Tao shook his head at her.
Qing Zhui stopped.
Ning Tao's eyes returned to the construction workers. "Who bought the land for the Suns.h.i.+ne Orphanage?"
As he asked, his eyes and nose went into the state of looking and smelling, and various colored innate auras came into view. Soon he saw a cultivator in the crowd with a strong innate aura, and he smelled metal and poison in that man. The smell was not strange to him, for it was the peculiar smell of the hidden weapons of the Tang Sect.
He had guessed who had bought the land for the Suns.h.i.+ne Orphanage. It had something to do with the Tang Sect. Tang Tianren should not bother doing this kind of thing, so either his disciples and followers did it, or Huai Kebing came. And maybe Tang Huaiyu, the woman who Ning Tao had not met yet, also came.
The possible foreman stared at Ning Tao, and yelled in a fierce tone, "Who are you? Does it matter to you who bought the land here? I warn you; my patience is limited. Don't stand in our way, or we'll do you a disservice!"
Ning Tao ignored him, looked at the guy from the Tang Sect and said, "Hey, man, do you think I don't know who you are when you're hiding in a crowd? Come out. I have a message for you to take home."
The Tang Sect's disciple's face suddenly changed, but he did not come out.
"d.a.m.n! You fool, don't pretend!" The possible foreman grabbed a steel pipe from a demolition worker next to him, took two steps forward, and raised it to hit Ning Tao on the shoulder.
Ning Tao instinctively tried to dodge, but it was just an idea. When the man lifted the steel pipe to hit him, he suddenly changed his mind and wanted to try the Powerful Tolerance to Beating that he had hard practiced for four days.
In the second of his hesitation, the steel pipe carrying wind had hit hard on him. The moment the steel pipe hit his shoulder; his spiritual power field had formed a spiritual power airbag. So instead of hitting his shoulder, it hit his spiritual power airbag.
Bam!
A dull sound came from between Ning Tao's shoulder and the steel pipe, but it was only a sound. Ning Tao didn't even shake, let alone get hurt. People present could see that he was beaten hard by the steel pipe, but no one saw that his spiritual power airbag had neutralized 60 percent of the impact, and that 30 percent of the impact was transferred, the remaining 10 percent was delivered to him through the spiritual power airbag, but against his muscles and bones, as well as his spiritual power's ability to relieve pain and heal quickly.
To him, a pract.i.tioner, it was the equivalent of a sixth-grader's punch. He could take a blow like this casually!
After this stroke, Ning Tao suddenly found that his spiritual power airbag had a feeling of smoothness and enhancement in the shock, just like blocked blood vessels and meridians being cleared after ma.s.sage, which made him very comfortable. The surprised feeling made him sprouted an abnormal idea. Then he suddenly reached out and slapped his opponent in the face.
Slap!
There was a crisp sound.
The slap was not heavy. His intention was to provoke him rather than to punish him.
The possible foreman was stunned by the beating and then provoked. "d.a.m.n, don't you dare slap me! I'm killing you!"
He raised the steel pipe in his hand and swept it towards Ning Tao while scolding him. The next second, he hit Ning Tao hard in the head with the pipe.
Bam!
All eyes were on Ning Tao.
Ning Tao remained where he was, motionless. His head wasn't broken, and he didn't fall down. The thick steel pipe bounced off his head, flew out of the possible foreman's hand and fell to the ground with a bang because he didn't hold it steady.
Eveyone's jaw dropped in amazement.
