Chapter 173 - Library

Library

The Royal Library was very big.

Which was no surprise, given the long history of the Mendilibar Kingdom.

I didn’t know just how many books there were here, but it was probably in the tens of thousands.

“I’ll search for books on magic first.”

“Then I will look for books on alchemy.”

We split up and searched.

There were thousands of books on magic alone.

Even alchemy had thousands of books.

So of course, it was not easy to find the books we were looking for.

“Philly, have you found anything promising yet?”

“I haven’t. What about you, Mister Locke?”

“Nothing yet.”

Then Philly muttered.

“I must say, I thought this would be easier.”

“Yeah…”

As we said this the librarian approached us.

“Are you looking for something?”

Said a woman with chestnut-colored hair and gla.s.ses.

She was still young, so she must have been quite brilliant to be put in charge of the palace library.

“His Majesty has ordered me to help you. So please tell me if there is anything that I can do for you.”

She said with a smile.

Well, that was convenient.

“I’m looking for books on how to make magic tools…”

“Magic tools? What kind?”

“I want to make an accessory that raises mental resistance.”

“…I see. In that case…”

The librarian started to lead me through the library.

“Here are the books related to magic tools.”

“Thank you. That is a great help.”

“Oh, no. It’s just my job.”

She smiled kindly.

Then Philly said,

“Librarian. I am searching for books on alchemy…”

“What genre of alchemy?”

“Hmm. Indeed… I would like books related to creating materials for magic tools…”

“In that case…”

The Librarian led Philly away.

“Oh, thank you!”

“It’s my job.”

I heard them say.

And so I started looking through the books.

There were lots that were related to magic tools.

I flipped through them and tried to find one that would be useful.

After a while, Philly returned.

“Have you made any progress?”

“Hmm. I think I can make it.”

I had done some research and reconfigured things in my mind.

And I now felt like I would be able to make the magic tool.

“That’s great to hear!”

“What about you, Philly?”

“Yes. It should be fine. I have acquired new knowledge.”

“So do you have enough for now?”

“Yes.”

And so we thanked the librarian and then left the library.

When we went outside, it was already evening.

Philly looked up at the sky and said,

“The sun has set already?”

“We were very focused… That’s why we didn’t notice.”

I had thought it was still midday.

“Now that I know it’s so late, I’m starting to get hungry.”

Just as Philly said this, her stomach started growling.

“True. I am hungry as well.”

And so Philly and I followed a servant to the room where Refi and the others were.

We needed to pick up Grulf, Tama and Lord Gerberga.

When I entered the room, I saw Tama relaxing.

He was lying on a comfy looking bench.

Eric’s oldest daughter, Charlotte was sitting next to him and petting him gently.

And Grulf was lying on the floor.

Eric’s wife, Refi was petting him.

Eric’s youngest daughter, Marie was holding Lord Gerberga.

Lord Gerberga was very quiet and still.

“Thank you for taking care of them.”

“Oh? Are you leaving already?”

Refi said with a look of remorse.

“Were Grulf and Tama being good boys?”

“Yes, very good.”

“I see. That’s a relief.”

“Aren’t you going to ask if Lord Gerberga was a good boy?”

“There is no such thing as a good boy or a bad boy when it comes to the G.o.d Fowl.”

“That may be true.”

Refi said with a laugh.

“So, have you found anything useful?”

“Yes, thank you.”

“I’m glad to hear it.”

Marie walked over to us while holding Lord Gerberga.

“Grand Duke. h.e.l.lo.”

“Your Highness. I hope you are well.”

“Lord Gerberga played with us.”

“I see. That’s very nice.”

“Cluck-cluck.”

Lord Gerberga was in a good mood.

Charlotte also walked towards us. Tama followed her.

“Philly. Tama was very good while you were away.”

“I am sure you are exaggerating, but thank you.”

Philly bowed politely.

And then Refi said to her,

“Philly. You should go to the room next to this one.”

“Yes. Is there something there?”

“Your parents have been called here. I thought you might like to talk to them.”

“Your Majesty. Thank you so much.”

Philly’s parents, Marquis Mastafon and his wife were living in the palace.

They helped the privy council in their investigation of the vampires.

And so Philly took Tama and went to the next room.
