Lu Yanchen’s deep gaze narrowed, somewhat complex and heavy. “If she wanted to swap ident.i.ty with your sister, there’s no need for her to have someone follow you and Qian Xun. Furthermore, your sister is already missing, and is no longer a threat to her. There’s honestly no need for her to do something so c.u.mbersome.”

“That’s right! My sister is my real sister. If Su Ya turned out to be my real sister, I would really…” She made a knife slicing motion at her throat and could not help but fall over, landing on Lu Yanchen while conveniently lying down onto his lap.

“Stop trying to guess her motives. No matter what it is, we will definitely find out. It’s only a matter of time.” He stroked her hair tenderly. Hesitating for a moment, he added, “Besides, through the way she’s acting, we can be sure that your sister is not in her hands!”

When she heard that, s.h.i.+ Guang smirked at Lu Yanchen slyly. “That’s right, there’s a chance my sister is Rong Mo… Even though my sister and Qian Xun have some resemblance, she resembles my daddy more. I wouldn’t have recalled if you hadn’t mentioned it, but Rong Mo really resembles my daddy.”

She then closed her eyes. “On the other hand, I don’t resemble either of my parents. So ugly!”

“Indeed, you’re definitely ugly.” He looked at her dotingly.

“Lu Yanchen!” Her pet.i.te little face revealed traces of indignance as she spun her head away.

He leaned down and kissed her on the lips gently before increasing the heat of it. Under the gleam of the warm orange light, it looked both warm and loving. It was only until a long time later when s.h.i.+ Guang could barely breathe that he pulled away.

“I did it on purpose.” He whispered at her ears heavily.

“Hmph…” She replied indignantly. “Be wary that I might just run off if you continue to act so purposely in your ways. By the time I run back to my grandma’s, I’ll accompany her for the rest of my life and ignore you.”

He smirked out as his phone rang and he picked it up, looking at the message. “I don’t recall ever having heard you mention anything about your grandparents!”

s.h.i.+ Guang bit down on her lip and replied moodily, “My daddy was an orphan. He said that he was already in an orphanage ever since he could recall anything, and had grown up there as well. There was someone who had adopted him before, but that family bore their own children just a year after, and returned my daddy to the orphanage. To him, the luckiest thing that had happened in his entire life was meeting my mummy. She was the one who gave him a home and a family of his own.”

s.h.i.+ Guang’s eyes reddened gradually.

Lu Yanchen placed his phone down and listened intently, ignoring the message entirely while caressing her face. “Do you want me to help check on your father’s parentage to look for your grandparents?”

s.h.i.+ Guang shook her head and looked up at the ceiling. “I don’t think there’s a need to.”

“Perhaps, they did not abandon your father? And… perhaps your father might have longed to find his own family when he was alive as well!”

s.h.i.+ Guang closed her eyes, her lips pursed while she contemplated. “In that case, do it then. Just as Xiao Bai had said, finding them does not mean I have to acknowledge them. It’ll do just to know.”

He nodded and kissed her on the forehead.

s.h.i.+ Guang sat up and hugged him. “Lu Yanchen, it’s nice having you around. My heart is warm even in the coldest of days… because of you.”
