Chapter 91 - Simple Date

Before Lu Chen could continue his words, Xiu Mei quickly stopped him from speaking any further with her index finger. She quickly shook her head, as if telling him not to speak anymore.

She didn't want to listen to what he was gonna say at all, else, she might get tricked again.

In her mind, she really wanted to scream and slap his head. Added to that, she also wants to slap herself awake as well.

You're getting too caught up, ah. Why do you keep forgetting that the person in front of you is a sly wolf acting like a puppy in front of you?

Watching her actions to avoid him, Lu Chen had a slight worry.

He found each of her reactions very cute but it seems that his wife would probably be very embarra.s.sed to face him later?

He fell in contemplation as he made a plan in his mind on how to appease his wife. He sighed, thinking that chasing is a very rocky path.

On the other side of the room, Xiu Mei decisively ignored Lu Shao's glances to her side.

Nope, never looking ah.

Just thinking how Lu Shao found them a while ago in the room, she really wants to dig a hole and bury herself in it. That is so embarra.s.sing!

Now she knew she wasn't the type to do a public display of affection, she can at least warn Lu Chen to do less and less of this kind of stuff when they're in public places like their workplace.

Few hours pa.s.sed by like a flash and it was finally time for her to go home now. And going home means Lu Chen would be getting off work very soon and go home with her.

Xiu Mei nervously sat in her area as she waited for Lu Chen to come out of the room. She could almost feel how fast her pulse is at this very moment. She stupidly wondered whether it was just her being too nervous or was she actually having a heart attack?

...She's thinking too much.

Lu Chen finally stepped out of the room and walked towards her. She immediately stood up and grabbed her bag, then walked beside him. She continuously walked beside him but temporarily stopped when she felt a warm hand wrapping around hers.

Xiu Mei couldn't help but look down to her hand, and then she saw the large hand that enveloped hers completely. Her heart pounded.

She raised her head and met Lu Chen's eyes. He didn't say anything and his face still looked blank which he normally looked like whenever he's outside the room but since she already spent so much time with him, she didn't miss the slight curl at the corner of his lips.

With their hands held together, Lu Chen walked towards the elevator with a light heart. Seeing that he was enjoying it, Xiu Me didn't have the heart to pull away her hand from him.

She scolded herself in heart.

d.a.m.n it, was she really this weak in front of good-looking men?! First, it was Brother Lee, and now she was giving so much leeway to Lu Chen.

Ugh, d.a.m.n it. Beautiful people really cause the downfall of a city ah. Look at her, where's the stubborn self who said they'll never fall with just looks.

In the elevator, she noticed that Lu Chen didn't seem to have any plans on letting her hand go soon. She remembered how many employees are now going home at this hour and if they see them walking hand in hand like this downstairs, the rumor that had died down will definitely spark to life again.

She peeked at Lu Chen who looked straight in front of him. Many people get intimidated everytime he looks like this. Serious, blank expression and silent.

She glanced at him for a little while longer before sighing.

She didn't have plans to reveal their marriage but if it's just a dating relations.h.i.+p…. She thinks that it would be fine.

At least, she could still give a face to Lu Chen who was giving his full efforts in chasing her. She failed to realize that she might've slightly hurt him when she suggested keeping their relations.h.i.+p under wraps. If that's the case, she can at least let the public know that they're dating right?

The moment they stepped out of the elevator, Xiu Mei could hear the gasps and whispers of the people around them. She could faintly hear the sound of a camera shutter at the back but she didn't bother turning back to check out who dared to take a photo of them.

Since they're going public, she might as well get used to this kind of thing.

When Lu Chen finally drove the car, Xiu Mei got confused when he made a different turn when compared to their usual route. She gave him a puzzled look as she asked.

"Are we not going home?"

"We'll go home later."

….are there any business appointments that she wasn't aware of?

Xiu Mei checked her phone to check Lu Chen's schedule and she was pretty sure that there weren't any business-related appointments after work time today. Was this taken as a special favor?

But Lu Chen never accepted any special favors though. Rather, he strictly set standards for each position he opens.

Lu Chen glanced for a second at the woman beside him and seeing her confused expression, he chuckled. His free hand grabbed her hand and grasped it firmly as he drove relaxedly.

"We're going on a date."

"...a date?"

So suddenly? Right now?

Xiu Mei looked at her attire. In her working clothes?

Aren't she supposed to dress a little bit more special if they go on dates? But here, Lu Chen is just dragging her around in their working attires?

"Yes, let's change our clothes first then we can go roam around."

Even though Xiu Mei already expected it, she really didn't think that Lu Chen would really bring her to a small store that sells new and cheap clothes. Ever since he said that they'll leave the car at a parking lot, she already had a faint hunch in her heart.

Lu Chen didn't follow the usual development of extravagant dates of CEOs but rather, it seemed like he was going to take her into a simple but lowkey date.

Xiu Mei looked at Lu Chen who was checking out the clothes and smiled. The extravagant date sounded good but a simple date like this was actually of her cup of tea.

Since she grew up in a high-profile family ever since she was born, she learned to appreciate doing things like this in a lowkey manner.

"That denim would look good on you." Xiu Mie pointed at the b.u.t.ton down denim top hanging just beside the clothes he was looking at.

Hearing his wife's advice, Lu Chen seriously considered her suggestion and looked at it. Grabbing the denim, he accepted the simple t-s.h.i.+rt that Xiu Mei handed him.

He was just planning to go and see the jeans on the other rack when Xiu Mei handed him another hanger.

"I think this will look good on you, Darling." Xiu Mei sweetly smiled at Lu Chen as she handed over the clothes she wanted him to wear.

Dazzled by the wife's smile and her endearment to him, Lu Chen foolishly accepted the clothes without even looking at it and walked towards the dressing room.

Behind him, Lu Chen failed to noticed the glint that flashed in Xiu Mei's eyes as she held back her laugh. Since she's always to the one to get tricked, she should start playing his games and trick him back right?

Inside, he hung the s.h.i.+rt and the denim top on one side.

He was just about to hang the jeans when he stopped midway, finally taking a good look at the jeans given by Xiu Mei.

Lu Chen was startled as his eyes jumped at the piece of clothing in front of him.

He gulped and felt thorned. His wife… is truly a witch ah.

Lu Chen didn't know whether to laugh or cry after finally realizing that he had fallen to his wife's schemes this time. So that's why Xiu Mei had called him 'Darling' ah.

...Wearing ripped jeans at this age, was his wife planning to play a teenager-like date with him?
