Chapter 237 - Narrow-minded

"It was Wan Wan's who caused the data leak? Is that what they're saying?" Xiu Mei repeatedly read the brief report on her hands. She was staying in the study while waiting for Lu Qiang to finish up before going to bed.

"No. She didn't cause the data leak, but she was aware that it happened and sold it to him." Lu Chen clarified.

"Then she had to have a mole. But after that data hack incident and the issue with one of our directors, Lu Shao already cleaned up the moles from the inside. Was it one of the people that we removed?"

Xiu Mei fell silent as she felt frustrated.

d.a.m.n it. Why did her kidnapping accident have to coincide when they're… wait.

That's also strange.

She got into an accident while they were in the midst of their investigation with the cleanup process in mind. Since she was the corporate secretary, it was no brainer for all the employees there to know that she was spearheading that investigation.

And then she had to go to City S for an emergency…

Xiu Mei's suspicions grew.

After handling the press, it was a normal strategy for any company to find out where the source came from. Wan Wan would have probably known that.

And then she appeared as soon as she arrived in City S which was hours away.

She initially thought that she was there because of her plans to kidnap her. But what if… if she looks at it from a different angle.

What if all of them have been looking at the wrong angle all along?

Wait. That still doesn't make sense.

Even if she was missing, she was replaced by Lu Shao as the leader of the investigation. Ying Wan Wan should have been aware of Lu Shao's position, which should have made it more difficult for the mole she planted to slip by.

Not to belittle her capabilities but, wouldn't it have been better if she was the leader instead of a person whose profession is far scarier?

She bit nibbled on her lip while thinking, unconsciously crumpling the papers in her hands.

Lu Chen heard the sound beside him. He watched his wife's figure when she was thinking deeply about something.

He wondered what she was thinking about so seriously when the door of their study opened and the little devil entered.

His expression dimmed.

This ungrateful brat. The only thing he does is fight with him over his wife most of the time.

"What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you not to enter the study?" Lu Chen sternly said to Lu Qiang who he stopped from going in any further in the room. Looks like his wife was too deep in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the entrance of another presence in the room.

Well, that's good. Then he can still kick out this brat before his wife could notice him.

Lu Qiang made an expression as if he was looking at a petty person.

"Dad, I don't remember having such rules in your study. I just entered here the other day you know."

"Then you're banned from entering here from now on."

"Dad, you're so narrow-minded. You're even bullying a kid, much less your son."

"Why did mom even marry you?"

"..."

Lu Chen was somehow suddenly stabbed unpreparedly.

Tsk. It's good that this brat doesn't know the truth. He would surely use that reason to always steal his wife from him ah.

"I'm narrow-minded, so go out and sleep on your own from now on." He followed his son's train of thoughts and tried to use it to his advantage to keep his wife from being stolen by his son.

"No way! Mom promised to sleep with me tonight."

"Don't you know? Promises are meant to be broken so my wife won't stay with you tonight."

"Dad, aren't you being too mean?! I'll hack your system tomorrow!!"

"Oh, are you challenging me? Then I dare you to try. I'll let your mother know that it was your doing. Let's see who'll be on the losing side if that happens."

"You're being unfair. Mom never breaks her promises so she will definitely stay with me tonight."

"But she's my wife first before your mother. So I win. Besides, you always say you want to grow up quickly. If you really want to grow up quickly, then man up and learn to sleep on your own."

"Ah! You're using my words against me!! You're trying to trick me!"

"I wasn't. You just have terrible negotiating skills. Remind me to have Lu Shao tutor you on that. Can't have you losing to someone in school because of your poor negotiation skills."

Lu Qiang went speechless from his father's ridiculous remarks.

Is there even a father in this world that treats his son so poorly like this?

"Oh my, my little dear. You're done?" A sweet voice chimed in behind them.

The arguing father and son duo looked in the direction of the voice and saw Xiu Mei walking over to where they are.

Lu Qiang's face brightened up while Lu Chen frowned.

"Mom! I'm ready to go to sleep!" Lu Qiang reverted back to his childish tone and held his mother's hand to drag her out of the room, away from his father's clutches.

He even taunted his father before going out, by flas.h.i.+ng a triumphant smile as his mother happily followed him towards his room.

That night, Lu Chen plotted to take revenge by arranging his son's schedule strictly for the next few weeks.
